State Representative Gerald Mullery to Speak at Chamber Breakfast
Continuing with the chamber’s legislative series, Rep. “Jerry” Mullery, representing Pennsylvania’s 119th District, will address the business community on Thursday, August 24th at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Red Carpet Breakfast program. He will discuss legislation affecting the Greater Hazleton area community. Attendees will also have the opportunity for a question and answer session at the end of his presentation.
The breakfast program is sponsored and hosted by Keystone Job Corps Center, 235 West Foothills Drive, Drums at the Culinary Arts Building. The 2017 Downtown Hazleton Classic Car Cruise-In will take place in Downtown Hazleton on Friday, August 4th (rain date August 11th) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Cruise-In, coordinated by the Downtown Committee of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, is sponsored by Hazleton Auto Trade Association. “The Hazleton Auto Trade Association is excited to partner with the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce for this year’s car cruise” stated Matt DePrimo of Barber Ford, president of the association. “Together the association members have had over 250 years of membership with the chamber. We understand the importance of a strong chamber in our community and look forward to the opportunity to bring a family friendly event that also represents a chance for us to showcase our individual businesses. We hope to see you all for a fun summer evening.”

The Downtown Hazleton Farmer's Market will kick off its sixth year this Friday, July 14th and continue every Friday through September 1st. The market hours are 10 am to 2 pm. The market will take place at the corner of Broad and Laurel Streets along the new city park.
The top academic students from five area schools were honored June 1st as the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce conducted its 43rd annual Academic Achievement Awards Dinner. The event took place at Carmen’s Country Inn & Gardens, Drums. Dr. Scott A. Sacco was the keynote speaker.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, along with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will once again sponsor the "Great American Cleanup” campaign. The one-day cleanup will be conducted Saturday, April 22nd. If volunteer groups cannot pick up on the 22nd, they can gather either on Friday the 21st or Sunday the 23rd. Groups are asked to leave bags along the cleaup route and PennDOT and local municipatlies will pick up the bags on Monday, April 24th. Garbage bags, safety vests, gloves a certificate of particpation and some goodies are provided to all the volunteer groups and can be picked up at the Chamber office from 8 am to 5 pm the week of April 17th.

That’s the message the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is sending through its partnership in the 21st annual Community Reading Day program, supported by Penn State Hazleton. This event will be held on April 27th beginning at 9:30 a.m. in first and second grade classrooms in the Hazleton Area School District, Holy Family Academy and chamber member preschools. The chamber organizes this annual event as part of their ongoing efforts to encourage business/education partnerships.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Human Resource Committee has announced their Eleventh Annual Human Resource Seminar. This half day seminar consists of three sessions, two of which are breakout sessions where attendees can choose from two topics going on simultaneously, a keynote speaker, breakfast and lunch. This seminar is geared toward anyone in the human resource field, as well as small to mid-size business owners or anyone else who is interested in learning more about the topics being offered. The seminar is scheduled to take place on Thursday June 2nd on the 4th Floor of the Hazleton Campus of Luzerne County Community College located at 100 W. Broad Street in Downtown Hazleton. The seminar will run from 7:45 am to 1:00 pm.
