The first stage of the Greater Hazleton Area’s multi-municipal comprehensive plan has officially begun with the launch of its community-wide survey. Upon its completion, this comprehensive plan will become a blueprint for the community’s future with recommended actions relevant to the current and future needs of the Greater Hazleton community.

Through a cooperative effort, the City of Hazleton, Borough of West Hazleton, and Hazle Township are building a framework to provide a vision, plan, and guidelines for the community over the next ten years. This plan will focus on and provide direction for many important issues, including land use, housing, transportation, infrastructure, recreation, the economy, and the environment.

The first phase of the Greater Hazleton Area Comprehensive Plan is the most vital: the community survey. Creating and executing a plan like this cannot be done without the help of community residents.

By participating in this survey, community members can share what they love most about the Greater Hazleton area and what they hope to see improve. This vital information will be used to determine what is most important to people living in the area – with the goal of tackling these issues over the course of this ten-year plan and improving the community to the standards set forth by its own citizens.

You can make your voice heard by visiting Hazletonspeaks.org and filling out the survey - available in both English and Spanish. All submissions will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing to win a $500 Visa Gift Card, compliments of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.
