Healthy Workplace Nominations Available Through Chamber PDF Print E-mail
Having healthy employees has its rewards.  There is no question that workplace wellness is worth the effort.  Studies repeatedly show healthy employees mean greater productivity, less absenteeism and lower health care costs, and that is why the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce has partnered once again with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and ChamberChoice to seek nominations from the Chamber’s membership for the 2008 Healthy Workplace Award.  The awards will be presented at the Chamber’s upcoming Awards Program in October.  2008 marks the third year that the Healthy Workplace Awards will be presented. Previous Chamber-member business winners included: The Hazleton Downtown Athletic Club, Greater Hazleton Health Alliance, Curves for Women, and First quality Nonwovens, Inc.  Companies may self nominate or may be nominated by a third party.  Winners will be chosen in two categories, including companies with 1 to 49 employees, and companies with 50 or more employees.  Participants will be evaluated on the strength and creativity of their workplace wellness efforts. 

 “Investing in workplace wellness affects the bottom line while improving the quality of life for employees and their families,” said Donna Palermo, Chamber president.  “It represents a crucial strategy for building a successful company.  We’re pleased to bring this program to our members.” 

Blue Cross will join each Chamber in presenting the awards in October during recognition events celebrating National Chamber Month.
