The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is offering an OSHA Safety & the Supervisor Training course on May 30th and a 10 and 30 Hour OSHA Training Course in General Industry and a 10 and 30 Hour OSHA Training Course in Residential and Commercial Construction in the fall. Attendees successfully completing the 10 and 30 hour trainings will receive an OSHA card. All trainings are being instructed by Joseph A. Thomas, ASC, CPOSH, Authorized OSHA Instructor of J. Thomas Safety First, LLC. Mr. Thomas provides occupational safety and health consulting services in PA, NJ, DE, MD, CT and MA. His consulting services consist of OSHA compliance with 40 years experience in all aspects of safety. The OSHA Safety & the Supervisor Training course is a safety training program for supervisors and/or managers in the workplace and includes training in the following categories: Management Commitment, OSHA Recordkeeping, Documented Training, Work Site Analyses, Hazard Identification, Prevention and Control, Workplace Inspections, Management Safety Responsible, Job Hazard Analysis, Understanding The Predictable Hazard, Understanding The Near Miss, Accident Investigations, Relations and Communications and Employee Involvement. You will learn important safety guidelines enforced by OSHA, in order to maintain a safer work environment. The training will provide you the opportunity to take back to your workplace the ability to setup standards as well as enhance your safety culture, therefore providing an overall safer work environment. The 10 and 30 Hour OSHA Training Course in General Industry is recommended for General industry workers, supervisors, safety managers, or other individuals responsible for safety in their organizations. The program will cover the following topics: Introduction to OSHA, including: OSHA Act, General Duty Clause, Employer and Employee; Rights and Responsibilities and Whistleblower Rights; Recordkeeping basics; Inspections, Citations, and Penalties; Value of Safety and Health; OSHA Website and available resources, OSHA 800 number; Walking and Working Surfaces, Subpart D including fall protection; Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection, Subparts E & L; Electrical, Subpart S; Personal Protective Equipment, Subpart I; Hazard Communication, Subpart Z. The program will also include some but not all of the following topics: Hazardous Materials, Subpart H; Materials Handling, Subpart N; Machine Guarding, Subpart O; Introduction to Industrial Hygiene, Subpart Z; Bloodborne Pathogens, Subpart Z; Ergonomics; Safety and Health Program; Fall Protection and Powered Industrial Trucks The 10 and 30 Hour OSHA Training Course in Residential and Commercial Construction is recommended for anyone in the residential and commercial construction business. This program will review how OSHA’s new requirements will affect your construction business. As of September 16th, 2011, OSHA can visit residential construction sites and are permitted to issue citations. In addition, PA will be implementing mandatory minimum 10 hour OSHA card requirements for the construction industry. This training will review information to help you prepare for a visit, how to avoid receiving a costly citation and prepare you and your employees on the pending mandatory training. Employees of companies who work in or with the following should be prepared for OSHA’s new requirements: ramps, runways & other walkways, excavations, hoist areas, holes, roofing, formwork and reinforcing steel, leading edge work, wall openings, unprotected side and edges, overhand bricklaying and related work, precast concrete erection and other walking/working surfaces. The Safety & the Supervisor Training will take place on Wednesday May 30th from 9 am to 2 pm. The cost is $99.00 per person and $49 for each additional person registered from same company or if you have completed an OSHA course with the Chamber previously in 2012. The 10 & 30 Hour OSHA Training in General Industry will take place as follows: 10 Hr - Tues & Wed, Sept 11th & 12th. 30 Hr - 10 Hr Class Times & Mon to Wed, Sept 17th to 19th. The 10 & 30 Hour OSHA Training for Residential and Commercial Construction will take place as follows: 10 Hr - Tues & Wed, Nov 13th & 14th. 30 Hr - 10 Hr Class Times & Mon to Wed, Nov 19th to 21st The cost of all trainings includes lunch and materials. All trainings will take place at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce office located at 20 West Broad Street in Downtown Hazleton. Additional OSHA trainings the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce will be providing for 2012 include: Wed, June 27th - Accident Investigation & Recordkeeping; Wed, August 29th - Focus Four Hazards; Wed, Sept 26th - Requirements for OSHA Inspections; Wed, October 31st - PPE, Hazard Communication, MSDS, Bloodborn Pathogens and Top Citation Standards; Wed, Nov 28th - Confined Space & Hot Work Permit; Wed, Dec 12th - Lockout/Tagout. If more than one of these classes are booked, you receive the additional price per person cost for everyone attending. |
