The Community Awareness Committee of the Greater Hazleton of Commerce invites the public to attend the 3rd Annual Tastes of Greater Hazleton, which will be held on Sunday, October 17th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm in the Holy Family Academy auditorium. 1700 W. 22nd Street in Hazleton
Event coordinators have announced that three celebrity cooking demonstrations will take place at the event. Chef Ed Kulish of Mea’s Restaurant, a local upscale restaurant located in the Markle Building in Downtown Hazleton will provide a cooking demonstration from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm. Chef Drew Wandishin, Head Chef at Top of the 80’s Restaurant, voted Pennsylvania’s Best Chef in 2007 and featured on SamSon Productions “Let’s Eat” cooking show, will be providing a demonstration from 1:15 pm to 2:00 pm. And Chef Lou Giovannia, from the “Chef Lou Show” on WYLN TV 35 will be providing a demonstration from 2:15 to 3:00 pm.
According to Allen Wagner, event chairman, “We are thrilled to have Chef Drew returning to our event this year and we are very excited about the addition of Chef Lou and Chef Kulish. They are all very talented and we know the public will really enjoy the opportunity to see them demonstrate their cooking abilities.”
The event will feature a sampling of signature dishes and products from sixteen restaurants and businesses from throughout Greater Hazleton. Samples will include: Brass Buckle providing a “Taste of Mexico”; Edgewood in the Pines, mango lobster spring rolls; Sand Springs Country Club, greek bruschetta; The Lookout House, providing a delicious signature dish; URS Catering Connection, haluski and pulled pork; Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, pork won ton tacos; Jed’s Catering, sausage and pepper skewers with ciabiatta bread; Top of the 80’s Restaurant, mini meatloaf, scallops wrapped in bacon, new England clam chowder; Carmen’s Bakery & Deli and Carmen’s Country Inn & Gardens, deli pitza and steak and mediterreanean bruschetta; T. Verrastro Beer Distributor, various beverages; McDonald’s, orange drink; Coffee Service, regular and decaf coffee; King’s Restaurant & Lounge, Stromboli and pasta fagioli; Amber Donia Old World European Bakery, assorted pastries and cookies; Blasko’s Candies & More, assorted chocolates and imported de-alcoholized wine including white, red, rose, merlot and reisling and Hollywood Diner & Sports Bar featuring their homemade bakery items.
Tickets are $15.00 each and can be purchased at either the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce office which is located at 20 West Broad Street in Downtown Hazleton, the Standard Speaker which is located at 21 N. Wyoming Street in Downtown Hazleton and most participating restaurants.
Tickets will provide you with a sample from each of the participating restaurants. It will also enter you for a chance to win tons of doorprizes which have been donated by local restaurants and businesses. They include commemorative aprons provided by CTC Manufacturing, Inc., and signed by the guest chefs, hockey tickets and the grand prize being a chance to win a ½ day road race experience at Pocono Raceway, a $1000 custom personalized g-force suite, a Nomex fireproof race gloves and overnight accommodations for two and two tickets for the Pocono Sportcar Grandprix provided by T. Verrastro Beer Distributor and Beck’s.

All proceeds from this event will benefit community projects coordinated by the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.
