State-of-the-art facilities, respected and caring physicians and technicians, and big-city care at small-town prices make Greater Hazleton a great place not only to get healthy but also to stay healthy.
Care and compassion are words that go hand in hand in Greater Hazleton. In addition to quality health care, human services are also a major priority, with professional staff addressing the needs of area residents regardless of age, race or financial status.
The Greater Hazleton Health Alliance serves more than 100,000 people throughout Greater Hazleton. With a solid corps of general practitioners and specialists, GHHA provides a full range of medical services.
GHHA operates inpatient care and emergency services at its Broad Street campus, a 160-bed community hospital fully accredited by the Joint Commission for Hospitals and Healthcare Organizations. It offers a newly renovated intensive care unit and 20-bed inpatient mental health unit.
A two-story Annex Building was constructed at the hospital to house a new, state-of-the-art laboratory, medical records department, medical library and more. Inside the hospital, a Step-Down Unit serves patients who are transitioning from the Intensive Care Unit.
GHHA allows Hazleton General Hospital and outpatient centers to work together to ensure that their patient's health and well-being are key concerns at all times. The best of care is available right here in the Hazleton area.
In 2007, GHHA opened its Hazleton Health & Wellness Center. The Health & Wellness Center is the first of its kind in northeastern Pennsylvania. This one-stop facility houses a variety of medical services such as an advanced surgery center, diagnostic imaging services (MRI, CT, Ultrasound, General X-ray, and PET), women’s imaging services (mammography and bone density), physical, occupational and speech therapy, cardiac testing and rehabilitation, musculoskeletal institute, blood work/laboratory services, wound care center, occupational health program, and multi-discipline physician offices.
All of these medical areas are complemented by an in-house pharmacy, a fully equipped, modern fitness center, personal trainers, custom-designed and supervised fitness programs, weight management programs, post rehabilitation exercise, and community education resources.
Greater Hazleton is home to a growing number of highly-respected private practices specializing in the fields of family medicine, pediatric care, chiropractic care, allergists, dermatology and optometry.
Imaging and radiology services are available at the Health & Wellness Center, Hazleton Imaging and Hazleton Radiology Associates.
GHHA also offers patient shuttle vans, which provide people with rides to the hospital, outpatient centers and area physicians' offices at no charge.
A highly-rated and well-respected community of medical professionals provides services in a wide variety of specialties. They cater to the medical needs of residents of all ages, and provide easy access and referral to regional institutions offering virtually every medical specialty.
Thousands of physicians, technicians, paramedics, nurses and aides work every day to get Greater Hazleton healthy and fit. But maintaining a healthy lifestyle is also easy to accomplish here. The region boasts many gyms and fitness centers that offer a variety of programs and equipment to match all skill levels.
This commitment to wellness includes rehabilitation and behavior modification programs. Serento Gardens, for example, is one of the most respected centers in the Northeast for its drug and alcohol counseling and treatment services. Also, community support groups offer encouragement and assistance for people who have to recover from or cope with an illness.
Assisted living communities, personal care homes and nursing homes provide great care close to home for loved ones we can no longer care for alone.
