The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, along with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will once again sponsor the "Great Pennsylvania Cleanup” campaign. The one-day cleanup will be conducted Saturday, April 24th rain or shine.
"The Great Pennsylvania Cleanup" is a statewide effort designed to encourage concerned citizens and groups to participate in a meaningful community beautification effort. The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is the local coordinator for the Greater Hazleton Area.
This year marks the twenty-eighth year that the Chamber is coordinating the yearly cleanup in the Greater Hazleton Area. The cleanup has become the largest volunteer effort in Luzerne County. During the last few years, nearly 2,000 volunteers participated in the one-day cleanup effort. Assisting the Chamber and PennDOT in the cleanup effort are the street departments of the City of Hazleton, Hazle Township, West Hazleton Borough, Butler Township and Black Creek Township.

Over 60 Chamber members, their employees and guests attended a networking mixer held at Shenanigan's on Broad Street in Hazleton on Tuesday, March 9th. The event was sponsored by At Your Service which is owned and operated by Dorothy Anderson. Big Brothers Big Sisters representatives where on hand to talk about the opportunities available and the need for Big Brothers and Big Sisters within their organization.

Community Reading Day will open the doors of possibility and imagination to area youth-letting them know Northeastern Pennsylvania is a great place to build a life and career. That’s the message the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is sending through its partnership in the Fourteenth Annual Community Reading Day program, sponsored by Bank of America. This event will be held on April 29th between 9:15 am and 10:15 am in the first and second grade classrooms in Hazleton Area schools and in second grades throughout Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wayne Counties.
In addition to the Greater Hazleton Chamber, additional event partners are the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber, the Greater Scranton Chamber, the Greater Carbondale Area Chamber, the Greater Pittston Chamber, the South Valley Chamber, the Wayne County Chamber, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Reading Association, and Boyds Mills Press. Together, these regional groups organized this annual event as part of their ongoing efforts to encourage business/education partnerships.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking committee will hold its 4th Annual “Ladies Night Out” event. The event, sponsored by The Hazleton Health and Wellness Center, will take place on Thursday, April 8th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Hazleton Health & Wellness Center located at 50 Moisey Drive in Hazleton.
All businesswomen of Greater Hazleton are invited to attend this event. “This is going to be an evening of pampering, relaxation, fun, self-indulgence and most importantly networking! Last year we had over 130 attend this event and this year we anticipate an even larger turnout.” explains Leann Fallabel, VP of Marketing for the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.
The evening will include hot and cold hors d’ oeuvres, wine and other beverages, a dessert bar, commemorative wine glasses, special guest bartenders, a wine raffle and a business resource table. Business women are encouraged to bring along items that will promote your business, such as business cards, brochures, coupons or promotional items for the business resource table.
A mini trade show will also be taking place throughout the event and will include massages, airbrush makeup demonstrations, body composition analysis, skin care complexion analysis, items available for purchase and tons of information!

Officials coordinating the 2010 Greater Hazleton Job Fair have announced that the event, scheduled for Thursday, March 25th, has 31 businesses participating to date. The firms and institutions will be on hand to provide educational, career and employment opportunities for those in attendance.
Local and regional firms have signed up to participate in the one-day event, which will take place at Best Western Genetti Inn & Suites on Route 309, Hazleton.
Employers seeking to locate full, part time, temporary or summer workers will be on hand to promote their opportunities. The job fair is free to anyone seeking new or improved employment opportunities. The firms and organizations slated to participate to date in this year's event include:
