Community Reading Day helps to promote literacy and encourage life-long reading and imagination with our next generation. That’s the message the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is sending through its partnership with Penn State Hazleton in the Seventeenth Annual Community Reading Day program. This event will be held in the Hazleton area on April 25th between 9:30 am and 10:00 am in elementary classrooms in Hazleton Area schools and throughout Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wayne Counties.
In addition to the Greater Hazleton Chamber, additional event partners are the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber, the Greater Carbondale Area Chamber, the Greater Pittston Chamber, the South Valley Chamber, and the Wayne County Chamber. Together, these regional groups organized this annual event as part of their ongoing efforts to encourage business/education partnerships.

Blue Ridge Trail Golf Course will be the site of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce 9th Annual Icebreaker Golf Outing. Alliance Medical Group is the premiere sponsor for this event.
The outing is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 26th with an 11am luncheon and a 12 noon tee off. Registration, which is $75 per player and includes a buffet lunch, round of golf with cart, and a drink voucher after the round of play.
Championship and Flight awards will be provided as well as awards for longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin. Deadline for registrations is Friday, April 19th.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking Committee is their second, in a series of luncheon programs for 2013, on Tuesday, March 26th from 12 noon to 1 pm at the Comfort Inn located at 58 State Route 93 in West Hazleton. The event is being sponsored by Lawn Specialties and is open to all business women in Greater Hazleton.
“The woman’s networking committee is very excited to continue to offer these luncheon programs for women throughout our area. The luncheons have been very well received with attendance averaging approximately 60 business women per program.” explains Leann Fallabel, Vice President of Marketing and Women’s Networking Committee Coordinator for the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking committee will hold its 7th Annual “Ladies Night Out” event. The event, sponsored by the Hazleton Health and Wellness Center, will take place on Wednesday, April 3rd from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Carmen’s Country Inn & Gardens located at 324 Freedom Road in Drums.
All businesswomen of Greater Hazleton are invited to attend this event. “This is going to be an evening of pampering, relaxation, fun, cash & carry, self-indulgence and most importantly networking! Last year we had over 150 women attend this event and this year we anticipate an even larger turnout.” explains Leann Fallabel, VP of Marketing for the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.

U.S. Senator Patrick (Pat) Toomey will be the featured guest of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Red Carpet Breakfast program scheduled to take place on Friday, March 22nd at Genetti’s Best Western Inn & Suites, 1341 N. Church Street, Hazle Township. The program, sponsored by Wagner Whitaker & John LLC, will begin at 8:45 a.m. and conclude at 10:00 a.m.
Senator Pat Toomey was elected to the U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania on a platform of limited government, economic and job growth, and restoring fiscal responsibility. The senator serves on the Finance; Banking; Budget; and Joint Economic committees. He is the chairman of the Senate Steering Committee -- the coalition of Republican senators that advocates for innovative, conservative policies.
