Llewellyn (Lew) F. Dryfoos, III was elected as the volunteer Chairman of the Board of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce at a reorganization meeting of the organization on Monday, April 12th. Atty. George R. Hludzik will serve as Immediate Past Chairman and Donna Palermo was re-elected as President of the organization. Joining Mr. Dryfoos and Ms. Palermo are new board members and officers who will begin their terms May 1st.
Vice Chairs include Angeline Yenchko, M&T Bank, Dominic Yannuzzi, Alfred Benesch & Co., Atty. Elizabeth Maguschak, McNees Wallace & Nurick, LLC, and Lonnie Polli, Earley-Polli Agency. Gary Yacubeck, Panorama Magazine will serve as Secretary and Terry Malloy, First National Bank, will serve as Treasurer.

Mountain Valley Golf Course will be the site of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce 6th Annual “Icebreaker” Golf Outing. Geisinger is once again the premiere sponsor for this event.
The outing is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 30th with lunch and registration beginning at 11 am and noon shotgun start. Registration, which is $75 per player and includes a buffet lunch, round of golf with cart, and a drink voucher after the round of play.

Invitations have been mailed for the 118th Annual Dinner of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce. The dinner program, which will feature an exclusive Executive Business Exposition and an update on the activities of the local business organization will take place on Thursday, May 20th, 2010, at the Best Western Genetti Inn & Suites Hall of Presidents on Route 309 in Hazleton.
According the Chamber Board Chairman George Hludzik, the dinner will provide an opportunity for local business officials and their guests to combine business with pleasure while hearing about the progress of the Chamber during the past year and mixing with the leaders of the Hazleton Area business community.
The evening will feature the Annual Executive Business Exposition which highlights businesses in the Greater Hazleton Area. Each year since its inception in 1992 the Executive Business Expo has attracted sell out crowds of participating firms. The Expo takes place in conjunction with the Chamber's pre-dinner reception and provides participants and attendees with an informal way to combine the social benefits of the evening, with the opportunity to see some of the goods and services available through local business.

Now that electrical rate caps have expired within PPL’s territory, industries of all sizes across northeastern Pennsylvania are looking for ways to lower electricity costs in both the short and long terms.
CAN DO Energy Solutions, which helps companies achieve meaningful energy solutions, will bring together a world-class panel of experts to discuss energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions, rebates and tax credits, PPL’s energy efficiency rebate program for commercial and industrial businesses (Act 129), how to finance energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, return on investment and other critical topics during a seminar on Wednesday, April 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
The seminar is also sponsored by the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry and PPL Electric Utilities and H.T. Lyons.
All sessions include not only generalized topic areas but also real-world, practical applications already completed or begun by local companies. Each session is moderated by an industry expert in energy efficiency, alternative power purchase, solar power, financing (grants and loans) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for new and existing buildings.
Representatives from commercial and industrial businesses across northeastern Pennsylvania are encouraged to attend.
