Leadership Hazleton
An affiliate of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, established in 1985, is a tuition based program with participants usually sponsored by their workplaces. Occasionally, scholarships are available for those in need. To participate in Leadership Hazleton, you should demonstrate a concern for the future of the area and have a desire to develop leadership, social, team building and professional skills. Participants attend a two day orientation session, one day per month from October through May, work with a peer group to complete a community service project and a second peer group to plan and execute one of the monthly sessions. Participants learn a great deal about the Greater Hazleton Area, develop new skills to benefit themselves and their community, and their participation provides community visibility for their sponsor/employer.

Junior Leadership Hazleton
Junior Leadership Hazleton is a leadership development and a community awareness program for high school juniors. It was established by Leadership Hazleton and school representatives in 1988. It is guided by the Executive Director of Leadership Hazleton, a Junior Leadership Chairperson and Committee and the Leadership Hazleton Board of Directors.
Junior Leadership offers students the opportunity to work with adult leaders in their community through six day long seminars. The six sessions each have a different focus and topics will vary from year to year. Sessions generally take place 8:30am-2:00pm, once a month August through February, excluding December (a final schedule will be provided later in the spring). Students will be encouraged to join a committee planning their own graduation and will be invited to help plan sessions for the following year’s Junior Leadership Hazleton program.
This in-depth curriculum acquaints participants with community needs, opportunities challenges and resources. It will give them the opportunity to develop leadership, communication and teambuilding skills. It provides them with the opportunity to interact with students from other high schools and community leaders and decision makers.
