The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce will conduct a special Red Carpet luncheon program to discuss Governor Tom Corbett’s proposed budget with guest speaker Luke Bernstein, Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Corbett. The program, sponsored by the Earley-Polli Agency, Inc., will take place on Wednesday, February 29th at the Valley Country Club, 79 Country Club Road, Sugarloaf, beginning promptly at 12:00 p.m. with a buffet lunch, followed by Mr. Bernstein’s remarks from 12:30 p.m.-1:15 p.m. with a question and answer period following. Cost to attend the program is $25 for Chamber members and $30 for Chamber guests.
Most recently, Mr. Bernstein served as the Executive Director of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania (PAGOP). In this role, Bernstein managed the PAGOP’s staff and its daily operations. Prior to this position, Bernstein served as the Deputy Campaign Manager for U.S. Senator Rick Santorum’s reelection effort where he helped oversee all campaign departments and was instrumental in developing and implementing the overall election strategy.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with Collette Vacations and Destiny Travel, will be providing an informational seminar for chamber members, family members, employees and the general public, on a trip entitled “Reflections of Italy”. The trip will take place from October 10th through October 19th, 2012. Trip highlights will include ten days, fourteen meals, eight breakfasts, one lunch and five dinners. Highlights of the tour will include Rome; Colosseum, Assisi, Perugia, Siena, Florence, Chianti Winery, Venice, Murano Island, Lugano, Switzerland, and Como.
According to marketing committee chair, Gary Danish, “The Chamber will be conducting a free informational seminar, as well as a webinar to learn the complete details of the trip. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the trip can attend the seminar on Wednesday, February 29th at 6 p.m. at the Chamber offices at Citiscape, 20 W. Broad Street, Downtown Hazleton. Officials coordinating the 2012 Greater Hazleton Job Fair have announced that the event, scheduled for Thursday, March 22nd, has 32 businesses participating to date. The businesses and institutions will be on hand to provide educational, career and employment opportunities for those in attendance.
Local and regional businesses have signed up to participate in the one-day event, which will take place at Best Western Genetti Inn & Suites on Route 309, Hazleton.
Employers seeking to locate full, part time, temporary or summer workers will be on hand to promote their opportunities. The job fair is free to anyone seeking new or improved employment opportunities. The businesses and organizations slated to participate to date in this year's event include:

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is offering an OSHA Scaffold Training course.. The training is being instructed by Joseph A. Thomas, Authorized OSHA Instructor of J. Thomas Safety First, LLC.
This training is for anyone who works with scaffold or related fields. Learn important safety guidelines enforced by OSHA, in order to maintain a safer work environment. This training will provide you the opportunity to take back to your workplace the ability to setup standards as well as enhance your safety culture, therefore providing a safe working environment.
The training will take place on Wednesday February 22nd from 9 am to 1 pm. The cost is $79.00 per person and $39 for each additional person registered from same company. The cost includes lunch and materials and it will take place at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce office located at 20 West Broad Street in Downtown Hazleton.

Congressman Louis Barletta will address the business community on Thursday, February 23rd at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Red Carpet Breakfast program. The program, sponsored by Geisinger, will take place at Capriotti’s Palazzo, 1 Banks Avenue, McAdoo beginning at 7:45 AM and concluding at 9:00 a.m. This is the second program of the Chamber’s legislative series of breakfasts. Last month, Mayor Joe Yannuzzi began the series with the State of the City address. Additional speakers confirmed to date include Rep. Tarah Toohil on March 21st, Senator John Yudichak on April 25th, and Luzerne County Council on May 31st.
A full Breakfast will be served at the upcoming breakfast program, and chamber members and guests who would like to attend should contact the Chamber office at 455-1509 as soon as possible since a large turnout is expected. Cost of the program is $15 for chamber-members and $20 for non-chamber members.
The Red Carpet programs are conducted monthly by the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce as a way of providing information to the local business community and offering new and expanded business networking opportunities.
