Dr. Deb Carr, Director of Curriculum & Instruction for the Hazleton Area School District, has been selected as the recipient of the 2010 Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Athena Award, sponsored by Berger Family Dealerships.
The Award, presented each year to a Hazleton Area businesswoman "for outstanding professional achievement," will be presented at the 118th Annual Meeting of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce. The dinner meeting will take place on Thursday, May 20th at the Genetti Best Western Inn & Suite Hall of Presidents.

Reservations are due for the 118th Annual Dinner of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce. The dinner program, which will feature an Exclusive Executive Business Exposition, and an update on the activities of the local business organization will take place on Thursday, May 20th at the Genetti Best Western Inn and Suites.
According the Chamber President Donna Palermo, the dinner will provide an opportunity for local business officials and their guests to combine business with pleasure while hearing about the progress of the Chamber during the past year, and mixing with the leaders of the Hazleton Area business community.
The evening will feature the Annual Executive Business Exposition which highlights businesses in the Greater Hazleton Area. Each year since its inception in 1992 the Executive Business Expo has attracted sell out crowds of participating firms. The Expo takes place in conjunction with the Chamber's pre-dinner reception and provides participants and attendees with an informal way to combine the social benefits of the evening, with the opportunity to see some of the goods and services available through local business.

Officials and members from the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce will venture to Harrisburg on Tuesday, June 22nd for an update on legislative issues facing Pennsylvania's business community. The group will leave the Chamber offices at 10 a.m. and leave the Capitol building at 3:00 p.m.
The one-day visit is being hosted by Representative Todd A. Eachus and will feature a series of meetings with various officials with first-hand knowledge of the Commonwealth's legislative priorities.
The field trip will begin with a complimentary lunch courtesy of Rep. Eachus. Following lunch the local delegation will join officials from the Rendell administration to discuss issues in their fields of expertise.
Chamber-members wishing to participate should contact the Chamber office (455-1509) by Friday, June 11th. Cost of the trip is $40 per person which covers the cost of the transportation. The Legislative Field Trips are an annual activity of the Chamber's Government Affairs Committee, chaired by Angeline Yenchko.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce invites all chamber member businesses, their employees and their guests to attend a special networking mixer. The mixer is sponsored by the Heritage Hill Senior Community and it is being hosted by Top of the 80’s, 3 Top of the 80’s in Hazleton.
The mixer will take place this Tuesday, May 4th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Chef Drew will be serving a wide array of hors d ‘oeuvres. A cash bar will be available and door prizes will be raffled off.

The two-man team comprised of players from First National Bank with team members Joe Baran and Tom Evanko took the Chamber’s Charmpionship flight award during the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce 6th Annual Icebreaker Golf Outing Friday, April 30th at Mountain Valley Golf Course in Barnesville.
Other winners in the tournament were: First Flight Winners representing First Columbia Bank & Trust, Elizabeth Hittle and Colleen Liddick. Second Flight winners representing DeAngelo Brothers, Inc. included Bill Patterson and John Hogan. Closest to the Pin Awards were won by John Bodin and Jim Cannon.
The premier sponsor for the event was Geisinger. Distinguished sponsors included DeAngelo Brothers, American Abstractors at Eagle Rock Resort, Executive Cleaning and Supply, Bank of America Home Loans, Cross Valley Federal Credit Union, Greater Hazleton Health Alliance, Hometown Nursing & Rehab and Kavlick Enterprises/McDonalds.
