Funfest Weekend September 11 and 12, 2010

ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULE RELEASED
Free entertainment will be featured at 2 stages and 2 additional performance venues throughout Funfest Weekend. The Entertainment Schedule for Funfest 2010 was announced recently, and includes rock, oldies and ethnic music, as well as opportunities to "dance in the street" in line with the 2010 Funfest Theme. MARINE CONCERT SOLD OUT!

There are just about no tickets available for the concerts by the Quantico Marine Corps Band which will be part of Funfest Weekend. Almost all of the free tickets made available for the concerts have been distributed. The Band, based at the Quantico Marine base in Virginia, is scheduled to perform two free concerts on September 11, at 2:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. Those who were unable to get tickets for the show will have two additional opportunities to see the Marine Band. The band’s “Dixieland Combo” will perform on the outdoor Funfest stage near Broad and Laurel Streets on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 12, beginning at 12:30 p.m. And the full band will lead the Funfest Parade, which kicks off at 2:30 p.m. in West Hazleton and travels through Downtown Hazleton. Concert ticket holders are reminded that doors will open one hour before each performance. There is no reserved seating. The Fairfield Inn and Suites, Hampton Inn, and Residence Inn are presenting sponsors for the Marines’ local visit. The appearance is being coordinated by the Funfest Committee in cooperation with the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce. The band is comprised of one officer and 50 enlisted Marines, and travels throughout the U.S. and abroad.

WHAT IS FUNFEST?

Funfest Weekend is two days of free family fun in Downtown Hazleton, Pennsylvania! Funfest was established 32 years ago as a community fair, and has grown to attract visitors from throughout Pennsylvania and beyond. More than 100,000 people regularly take part in Funfest each year, making it one of the largest events of its kind in Northeastern PA!

Funfest Weekend is made up of many different activities of interest to all ages and tastes. There’s free entertainment at four venues, a classic car show, a huge craft show featuring handmade items, a street fair, and of course, the great Funfest Parade, featuring giant helium balloons. Funfest also has a special section just for kids, Senior Activities, and a night for Teen Activities. There’s the very popular Hot Wings Contest and Chili Cookoff. And when you come to Funfest, you pay NO admission and parking is free!
