Funfest Weekend is two days of free family fun in Downtown Hazleton, Pennsylvania! Funfest was established 30 years ago as a community fair, and has grown to attract visitors from throughout Pennsylvania and beyond. More than 100,000 people took in the many attractions at Funfest last year, making it one of the largest events of its kind in Northeastern PA!

Funfest’s 2008 theme is “Racing Around the Globe,” and you will be able to race through dozens of events and activities, including a chance to put yourself behind the wheel of a race car!

Funfest Weekend is made up of many different activities of interest to all ages and tastes. There’s free entertainment at four venues, a classic car show, a huge craft show featuring all handmade items, a street fair, and of course, the great Funfest Parade, which will once again feature giant helium balloons. Funfest also has a special section just for kids, Senior Activities, and a night for Teen Activities. There’s the very popular Hot Wings Contest, and the return of the great Funfest Chili Cookoff. And fireworks! And when you come to Funfest, you pay NO admission and parking is free!

Funfest is a terrific way to end your summer. It is a family celebration, and it also serves as a fundraiser for many charitable organizations. Don’t miss Funfest Weekend, September 6 and 7, 2008, in Downtown Hazleton.

Directions: Hazleton is five miles south of the intersection of Interstates 80 and 81 in Northeastern Pennsylvania, on the western end of the Pocono Mountains From I-81, take Exit 141 to Route 309 North (left at traffic light). FUNFEST activities begin at the intersection of Route 309 and Route 93 (Broad Street-second traffic light). All municipal parking lots provide free parking FUNFEST Weekend. From PA Turnpike (Northeast Extension-476), take Interstate 80 West to Exit 262. Follow Rt. 309 South for approx. 7 miles. FUNFEST activities begin at the intersection of Route 309 (Church St.) and Route 93 (Broad Street) in Center City Hazleton. All municipal parking lots provide free parking FUNFEST Weekend.
