Chaskin Jewelers, located at 97 N. Wyoming Street, Downtown Hazleton,
recently received the gDowntown Prideh award from the Downtown
Committee of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.
The award, initiated to help address the issue of cleanliness
in the Downtown area, was the fifth such award presented by the
committee. The award was initiated to recognize the
efforts of individual businesses that set an example of pride in
conducting a business in the Downtown area.
William L. Spear, chairman of the Chamberfs Downtown Committee
states, gWe are recognizing Chaskin Jewelers for paying special
attention to the cleanliness surrounding their business. We
are asking that every businessperson make the effort to, at least
each Monday of the week, go out and pick up the litter and debris
around their place of business. And, if the building next
door to your business is vacant, to clean that area as well. Working
together, we can make a difference in the cleanliness of the Downtown
area, and Chaskin Jewelers sets a prime example of this effort.h
Barry Chaskin, owner, was presented with a framed certificate
from the Chamber of Commerce and its Downtown Promotions committee.
