Over 100 business people from throughout the Hazleton Area turned
out for the eleventh annual Holiday Mixer sponsored by the Greater
Hazleton Chamber of Commerce and its Downtown Committee yesterday
at the new Citiscape lobby in the Markle Building. The Cyber Calf,
located in the Markle Building, and chamber member, catered the
event.
“One of the goals of the Chamber is to provide networking
opportunities for our members, and we are happy to see that a record
number of individuals from our affiliated organizations have taken
part in this holiday event,” said President Donna Palermo.
Palermo noted that the mixer also helps to showcase Downtown Businesses. “It
brings people Downtown, gives them a glimpse of the hundreds of
businesses located in this area of the city, and hopefully encourages
consumer spending.”
The Chamber’s Mixer marked the second holiday event of the
Holiday Season for Center City Hazleton. On Saturday, December
2nd, Santa and Mrs. Claus visited the Citiscape Lobby in the Markle
Building and had pictures taken with over 125 children.
“We are most grateful to the Hayden Family for hosting
this year’s event and helping to make this one of the best
social events we have held,” Palermo said. With the
new spirit of cooperation among Downtown business owners, a progressive
and supportive mayor, and forward thinking developers, we feel
sure that Downtown Hazleton has a bright and exciting future, and
are happy to be involved in that evolution.”
The Mixer highlighted the new Citiscape Lobby in the Markle Building
and was preceded by a special ribbon cutting ceremony officially
opening the new lobby.
The CAN DO Community Christmas at the J.J. Ferrara Philharmonic
Center followed the Chamber’s Mixer.
