Chamber Highlights new Community Awareness DVD at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs
The Chamber launched their second edition of a new Community Awareness DVD last night at theMohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The new DVD focused on the positive aspects of life in Greater Hazleton and regionally, and has been produced to promote the region’s strong points. The initial DVD was launched in May of 2003 through the Chamber’s newly formed “Community Awareness” committee. A new logo was designed and special newspaper articles were published on a monthly basis by the Standard-Speaker and written by staff writer Jim Dino. Allen Wagner, chairman of the Chamber’s Community Awareness began the program by introducing Jim Wise, VP of Marketing for Mohegan Sun, and the premiere sponsor of the DVD. Mr. Wise provided an update on the new facility being constructed and also thanked the Chamber for hosting the mixer at Mohegan Sun. Mohegan Sun also provided complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres for the event. Mr. Wagner stated in his comments that the new DVD will compliment the Chamber’s Newcomer Packet and Community Tours in an effort to welcome and familiarize newcomers to the Greater Hazleton Area. Mr. Wagner voiced his thanks to Gary Danish of Video by UVP who produced the new DVD. “Mr. Danish not only produced the DVD for the Chamber, but provided many hours of in-kind service to the organization. Without his contribution, we could not have had this DVD produced. Mr. Danish also volunteers hours of his time as chairman of the board of the Chamber”. Mr. Wagner continued, “Leann Fallabel was also a very valuable asset with this project. It was Leann who assisted Mr. Danish by making the arrangements with the various businesses and organizations to acquire photos or set up appointments to get into the locations needed for the DVD. And, of course, we want to especially thank the Community Awareness Committee. Members of the committee include Denise Corcoran, ARCIL, Jim Dino, Standard-Speaker, Lonni Polli, Earley-Polli Agency, Bill Washko, WYLN, Alice Kender, Boscov’s, Steve Peterson, Carbon Training Center, and Mary Labert, McAdoo Council. In addition, a special thank you to Lex Sloot, Printmark Industries, for the design and contribution of the new DVD covers. Mr. Sloot provided the same in-kind contribution for our first edition and has graciously made the same donation for our new edition”. Copies of the new DVD will be made available through the Chamber office by December 1st for a nominal charge of $5.00 per DVD.
