Hazleton Food Supermarket, located at 251 N. Wyoming Street, Downtown Hazleton, recently received the “Downtown Pride” award from the Downtown Committee of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce for the month of June.
The award, initiated to help address the issue of cleanliness in the Downtown area, was the sixth such award presented by the committee. The award was initiated to recognize the efforts of individual businesses that set an example of pride in conducting a business in the Downtown area.
William L. Spear, chairman of the Chamber’s Downtown Committee states, “We are recognizing the Hazleton Food Supermarket for paying special attention to the cleanliness surrounding their business. We are asking that every businessperson make the effort to, at least each Monday of the week, go out and pick up the litter and debris around their place of business. And, if the building next door to your business is vacant, to clean that area as well. Working together, we can make a difference in the cleanliness of the Downtown area, and the Hazleton Food Supermarket sets a prime example of this effort.”
