Car Cruise TODAY in Downtown Hazleton

Looking for something to do tonight?  The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, the City of Hazleton, and event sponsor, Tunnessen Auto Parts, invites all to participate in the “Rollin Car Cruise” which will take place tonight, August 3rd,  from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. 

Beginning at Noon, a special display of new vehicles, courtesy of the Hazleton Automobile Trades Association, will take place.  Those members include: Barber Ford, Berger Family Dealerships, Fairway Motors, Independence Toyota, Kress Auto Parts/Harry’s U Pull It, and Tunnessen Auto Parts.

The Cruisers will line up directly on Broad Street. Cruisers will be directed to enter Chestnut Street, to Laurel Street, and North on  Laurel Street to Broad Street to begin lining up for the cruise. Cruisers will then proceed throughout the downtown area and conclude by parking directly on Broad Street. Items donated by Hazleton Area businesses are being provided to the first 200 Cruisers along with dash plaques courtesy of the Anthracite Region A.A.C.A.

WAZL with Tony Pacelli will provide a live remote in front of their offices located in The Markle Building, and D.J. Jim Dino will be playing oldies music in front of Street Graphics located in the Broad Street Business Exchange. Also for the first time, live music will be provided by The Legends, who will be located by Jimmy’s Quick Lunch and Tri-County Business Machines.  In addition, attendees, both cruise participants and the public, will be able to register to win prizes from participating merchants.  The drawing for the prizes will take place at 8:00 p.m. at D.J. Jim Dino’s location at the Broad St. Business Exchange.

Also, in celebration of the City’s 150th Anniversary, commemorative items will be on-hand for sale in front of the Hazle Drugs building located on the corner of Wyoming and Broad Street.  Items for sale will include T-shirts, lapel pins, medallions, and bags of coal.

There is no charge to participate in the Cruise, but all participants are asked to arrive by 5:30 p.m. so that the Cruise can begin on time at 6:00 p.m.

The Chamber wishes to remind the public and downtown businesses that parking will be prohibited on Broad Street from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday evening to accommodate the Cruise participants.

Also, the Hazleton Parking Authority wishes to remind the public that there is FREE parking daily after 5:00 p.m.

The public is encouraged to attend.  Bring your chairs to enjoy the Cruise and take advantage of the many businesses who will remain open until 9:00 p.m.
