Job Fair attracts hundreds of job seekers

Hundreds of men and women from throughout the entire Greater Hazleton Area and beyond attended the Eleventh Annual Hazleton Area Job Fair held Thursday at Best Western Genetti Inn & Suites.

Sixty Hazleton Area business concerns were in hand to provide job seekers with employment information about more than 200 types of full time, part time, Summer and perminant Employment.  Participants included industrial and service businesses, educational and job traininging institutions, the military services and employment agencies.

Donna Palermo, Chamber president  notes that "We are very pleased with the turn out for Thursday's event.  We believe our goal of helping interested residents find employment opportunities and assisting local business in reaching the best quality employee has been met.”

Firms that particiated in the event included: Aaron North,Academy Hair Design, American Staffing Solutions Inc., Avon, Bloomsburg Hospital, Blue Cross of NEPA, Career Link of Hazleton, Comfort Keepers, DeAngelo Brothers, Inc., Denny's Restaurant, Dept. of Corrections, Eagle Rock Resort, Easton Hospital, Econoco Corporation, Entercom, Fabri-Kal Corporation, First Quality Nonwovens, Inc., Freedom Corrugated, George J. Hayden, Inc., Greater Hazleton Health Alliance, Hawk Mountain Labs, Hazleton Oil & Environmental, Hilton Reservations, Hometown Nursing & Rehab Center,Integrated Marketing Solutions, Interstate Road Management, Intrepid Detective Agency, Ivy Steel & Wire, Keystone Financial Management, Lowe's, Luzerne County Community College, Luzerne County Office of Human Services, Manpower, Mary Kay Cosmetics, McCann School of Business & Technology, Michaels Distribution Center, Network Solutions, One Source Staffing, PA State Police, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Pets United, LLC, Polyglass, Procure Personnel, Prudential Financial, Quebecor World, Romark Logistics, Sallie Mae, Simmons Company, TempStar Staffing, The Pavilion @ St. Luke Village, TJ Maxx Distribution Center, Tobyhanna Army Depot, Traffic Control of Drums PA , Trans American Technical Institute, Inc., Trans Western Polymers, US Navy, Vacation Charters, LTD, Wal-Mart, WMGH/WLSH Radio Stations, and Workforce Resources.

Jerry Burgess, manager of the Hazleton CareerLink, and a co-chairman of the Job Fair planning committee, said, "We are very pleased with the results of this year's event, we have already begun talking about how we can improve the Fair for next year.”

The event was Coordinated by the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce and The Pennsylvania CareerLink-Hazleton office. Sponsors of the day-long program included the Standard-Speaker, PPL Corporation, Luzerne County CareerLinks, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center, the Luzerne County Workforce Investment Development Agency, and Arc Electric. Also assisting were the Schuylkill County and White Haven Chambers of Commerce.
