Leadership Hazleton Appoints Pat Korb as Executive Director
Leadership Hazleton, an affiliate of the Greater Hazleton Chamber
of Commerce, is pleased to announce the selection of Patricia Korb
as Executive Director. She will be in charge of Leadership
Hazleton, Junior Leadership Hazleton and Silver Leadership Hazleton.
Pat was a graduate of the first class of Leadership Hazleton in
1986 and served as Executive Director of the program from 1987
to 1996. Junior Leadership Hazleton, a community awareness and
leadership development program for high school students, began
under her direction and members of Leadership Hazleton and the
student program had completed over 30 community service projects.
Among these projects were a Child Care Directory, Resource Information
Guide for Senior Citizens, Board Training Seminar for Non Profits
and a talent show for the residents of Fritzingertown Senior Living
Community.
Mrs. Korb was a member of the Greater Hazleton Human Relations
Task Force, co-chaired the annual cancer telethon and was an active
Board Member of the American Cancer Society and Kiwanis Club of
Hazleton. She also served as Chair of the United Way Budget
and Allocations Panels.
Throughout her community involvement, she also served on the following
boards, United Way of Greater Hazleton, Secretary; Serento Gardens
Drug and Alcohol Services, Chair; Hazleton YWCA and the Big Brothers/Big
Sisters of the Bridge Advisory Board. She was also a scout
leader for Pennfs Woods Girl Scouts, United Way Loaned Executive
and A.D. Thomas PTA Vice President.
Pat is listed on the Pennsylvania Honor Roll of Women, was a recipient
of the Pennfs Woods Outstanding Leader Award, the YWCA PEARL award,
Distinguished Leader Award from the National Association of Community
Leadership and was the 1995 Soroptimist International of Hazleton
Woman of the Year.
Pat and her husband, Mike, resided in California for nine years,
but are glad to be back in the area and now live in Hobbie. They
have two children; a daughter Kathleen, Mt. Joy, PA and son, Matthew
who resides with his wife, Jessie, in San Francisco, CA.
