The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, along with the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber and Bank of America, are looking for candidates who qualify for the Great Valley Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Luzerne County. The Greater Scranton Chamber is also conducting the same award for Lackawanna County.

The purpose of the award is to promote the development of future business owners and operators. The recipient of the Great Valley Young Entrepreneur Award will be recognized by the entire business community. Bank of America and the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce will present the Young Entrepreneur Award at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce�fs Annual Dinner on May 10th, 2007 and the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber will also recognize the winner at an upcoming Chamber event.

All entrepreneurs ages 13 to 30 and residing in Luzerne or Lackawanna  County are eligible for the Great Valley Young Entrepreneur Award, providing they either attend school, high school or college, or have successfully completed high school. Dorm students are eligible. The entrepreneur must have a for-profit business that currently operates in Luzerne County. Ongoing seasonal businesses are eligible as well. The business must be in operation at least three months and the candidate must have a client/customer base of three or more. The  nominee must provide three references. One from a client is required; two may be from a parent/guardian, principal/Dean, or friend.

The winner, in addition to being recognized at the Chamber�fs Annual Dinner meeting, will also be provided with a booth at the Chamber�fs Executive Business Exposition prior to the dinner, $750 to use towards his business, and a beautiful recognition plaque. Over 400 businesspeople attend the Chamber�fs Annual Meeting providing an excellent networking opportunity for the winner.
