Chamber/General services to host business seminar
The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the
Pennsylvania Department of General Services will present a special
FREE program entitled “Doing Business with the Commonwealth” in
Hazleton on Tuesday, February 20th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. The
seminar will take place in the Chamber offices, Community Room,
in the CAN DO Building, Church and Broad Street, Downtown Hazleton.
Pre-registration is required.
The Pennsylvania Department of General Services (DGS) purchases
more than $4.5 billion in goods and services each year and establishes
procurement policy/procedures for most Commonwealth agencies. The
Department’s Bureau of Procurement acts as the purchasing
agency for statewide requirements contracts and for purchase orders
for supplies in excess of $20,000 and for services in excess of
$500,000.
At this workshop, a representative from the PA Department of General
Services will provide information on state contracting procurement
processes. Topics will include: Does the state buy what you
sell; How does state government purchase goods and services; and
How to find state business opportunities. State certification
for minority-owned and women-owned businesses will also be discussed.
