Hazleton, recently received the “Downtown Pride” award
from the Downtown Committee of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of
Commerce.
The award, initiated to help address the issue of cleanliness
in the Downtown area, is the fifth such award presented by the

a business in the Downtown area. Businesses are asked to make the
effort to, at least each Monday of the week, go out and pick up
the litter and debris around their place of business and in the
case of winter conditions, to make sure sidewalks are kept cleared
of snow and ice.
W. Kevin O’Donnell, president, was presented with a framed
certificate from the Chamber of Commerce and its Downtown Promotions
committee.
Previous winners of the award include: Deb & Greg’s
Corner Tavern, Fellin’s Jewelers, Mr. Phil’s Wicker & Laundry
Center, Lehigh Tire Co., Hazleton Area Public Library, Chaskin
Jewelers, and Metallo’s Formal Wear/Spotless Cleaners.
