Mayor Barletta Provides State of the City Address to Large Chamber Crowd

Mayor Louis Barletta delivered his ninth annual State of the City address to a large crowd of over two hundred Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce members yesterday at the Best Western Genetti Inn and Suites.  The program was sponsored by Geisinger Health System.  The Mayor outlined the City’s accomplishments in 2007 and discussed ongoing and new activities for 2008.

Barletta spoke in great detail about several projects including the highly successful Pine Street Neighborhood revitalization project which has seen all twenty-six new homes sold.  He also spoke about his continued fight against illegal immigration, the City’s mine reclamation project, increased police protection , extended services of the Hazleton Public Transit Authority, and the recent purchase of mobile security cameras through a grant from the State.

The Chamber will continue its Legislative Update program next month with Senator Raphael Musto as the featured speaker.
