The Chamber helps you to help your community

Committees
Since its inception, the Chamber has been involved in virtually every significant community development activity in the Greater Hazleton Area. Issues are addressed by three Committees:

o Community Development (Nescopeck State Park,
Partners in Education, etc.)
o Transportation (Southwest Beltway)
o Government Affairs (annual trips to Harrisburg to meet with lawmakers and state departments)

Program of Work
Every two years, members are asked to state their community priorities. This input is developed into the Chamber’s Program of Work.

Special Projects/Committees
The Chamber embarks on special projects or creates committees based on the needs and concerns of its members. Projects have included the “Shop Local” campaign, the community image project, land reclamation, and the Downtown Committee, which has been working to shine some light on center city businesses and make improvements to that area.

Affiliated Organizations
Over the years, the Chamber has created organizations to address specific community needs, and continues to work along with those entities. They include CAN DO, The Alliance to Revitalize Center City Hazleton (ARCH), the FUNFEST Committee, Mountain Council of Governments (COG), Leadership Hazleton, Junior Leadership, Partners in Education, the Greater Hazleton Area Civic Partnership, and Eckley Miners Village Associates.

Business Affiliations
Members become indirectly involved in the Chamber’s growing network of business organizations, including the US and PA Chambers of Commerce, PA Retailers Association, Pennsylvanians for Effective Government, PA Economy League, Economic Development Council of NEPA, PA Council of Governments, International and Mid-Atlantic Festivals and Events Associations.
